O-Ring Mania

The things you can do with O-rings! The idea stemmed from an article in the bead magazine. I used O-rings as well as nylon washers. The O-ring with turquoise colored beads has ruffles.

On the bracelet, I used a smaller sized O-ring which is a perfect size for the bracelet. In the center of the O-ring, I placed an iridescent button which is sewn onto a small round piece of suede. The bracelet is done in modified 2-drop peyote.

Stained glass

Don recently completed the 5 panels of stained glass windows for the Great Room. The abstract depicts the colors of the desert from sunrise to sunset. There are over 1,000 little squares of cut glass total.

Chunky Book Pages

I am participating in a Chunky book swap with the theme of House/Home. Each artist is making 27 identical or similar pages and our hostess will swap them out with the others in the group.

There are a series of techniques used on the pages which include stenciling, masking, watercolor, painting, stamping and transparencies. The Page is entitled "Home or Hive?" Click the photo for a more detailed look at the photo.

Beaded bracelet - Published!

This bracelet is being featured on page 23 of the Step by Step Beads magazine, Mar/April 2008 issue. It is entitled Beaded Frames and incorporates Hex and size 11 seed beads. Crystals and glass beads embellish the creation.

Felted items

More felting. The piece on the left is the size of a CD and opens at the top section. I will eventually sew a strap to it and turn it into a small purse. The piece on the right is a felted styrofoam ball. I played with shaping and patterns.

I've been playing with needle felting and made these two 2x2" items for "The Pink Challenge" to sponsor the Susan B. Koman Foundation. The piece on the far left entitled "Giving a Hand" has a needle felted hand with dove flying out of its palm. The remaining portion is bead embroidered. This piece will be included on an art doll. The piece on the right is entitled "Have a Heart" and is all needle felted with sequin flower on top and Aids memorial ribbon in the heart. This piece will be included in a wall hanging.

Tate Modern, London

We just returned from a trip to London. What a great adventure. This is a very large bronze spider sculpture by Doris Salcedo located outside of the Tate. Wicked! The Tate had 5 floors of modern art to experience and enjoy.
