Raku Shield

The focal raku bead was made by talented and local AZ artist, Mak.  The bronze clay triangle was made by artist, Judie Mountain.  This is bead embroidered.  It hangs from 3 blue chains and I incorporated 2 raku beads on the necklace made by Diane Hawkey.

Glass donut

The blue glass donut is made by lampwork artist, Terry Henry.  It has been bead embroidered and has fringe to accent the donut.  

Sparkling Blossom

This is a Round Robin doll.  6 beaders (including myself) worked on this doll which had a "Flower Child" theme.  I identified with the theme having grown up in the Flower Child era.  I beaded her bell bottoms.  Isn't she groovy??

Shibori Shimmer

I jumped on the Shibori bandwagon and created this bracelet using a fused glass focal piece from a friend.  Pearls, O beads, crystals, flower sequins, seed beads and shiny metallic threads were added.

Untitled bracelet

Focal lampwork bead from Alana.  I simply added metal sequins and crystals oval to a leather-like base.  The focal speaks for itself.

Easy breezy bracelets

These bracelets use braiding and ribbon fibers to incorporate an easy bead embroidery.

Mista Marbeauz

Mista Marbeauz makes me smile.  He is a bead embroidered clown.   The lampwork face is made by AZ artist, Laurie Greenberg.  I beaded the sweater with Ndebele stitch, the pants in square stitch and the sox in peyote stitch.  

Caged

Caged uses a raku cabochon made by Raku Studios.  Love your work, Mak!  The focal piece has a nice metal appeal to it so I used that theme with my added seed beads, metal and chain.

Madame R.M. Wasabi

The ceramic delft face was gifted to me by another beader.  The face had an Asian look to it so I went with a geisha idea.  A bead embroidered robe with metal dragon.  The hair is built up on 3 layers of fringe.  The bun on her head is made from a felt bead used for the core with black beads wrapping it.  The hands and feet were made by another beader friend.

Altoid tin trade w/doll

I participated in an Altoids Tin trade.  The pink painted box is the altered tin.  Inside lives a miniature beaded doll.  

Variations of a Theme

My first of three collaborative pieces.  The blown glass bead is from Alana Reifel's Unique Beads.  I had admired this beautiful bead for some time and thought it would be interesting as a bead embroidered piece.  Here are the two variations I came up with using different types of sequins and spikes in the designs.

At Home, Sing Your Song

This is a collaborative piece.  The focal piece is made by artist Diane Hawkey.  I beaded around the focal bead and turned it into a house structure.  Several small additions were added for interest.

Buddha's Bliss

The raku bowl was make by Mak of www.MAKUstudio.com.    When I got the bead, I knew it would be a good challenge with its shape.  I make a peyote base for the buddha head and place some knit wire underneath the head to add some interest.  The triangular portion has sequin leaves and seed beads.  To give it some more Asian flair, I attached a jade pendant to the bottom attached with ladder stitch.  This was a collaborative project and now belongs to Mak.

Buddha's Temple

This beaded cuff came together as a result of a raku button made by local artist, Mak.  Contact her at www.MAKUstudio.com for more info.
The buddha face is perched on top of her raku button.  I decided to peyote 2 separate strips and attach them to Ultrasuede.  The peyote is further embellished with rondelles and pearls.

Egyptian pendant

After my girlfriend had struggled to make this bead embroidered pendant, I raised my hand and came to her aid.  She had seen a similar bracelet and I drew a pattern to her liking.  This pendant shows off cobalt blue with 24k gold Delicas.  Aren't they scrumptous?  She just received the pendant for her birthday and was soooo happy!

Geode Earrings

Dangling from the ears, these geode sparkles in the light.  Simple bead embroidered earrings pretty up anyone's ears.

Hello Dolly

I had the opportunity to self publish a book of some of my favorite bead embroidered dolls.  The cover features Mini Me, aka Hot Flash Mama.  It is my self portrait.  Most dolls are beaded and include my love of mixed media inclusions.  A labor of love for sure.

My Garden

I was gifted the focal piece, a floral button.  From there I used the same theme of the button to create my garden using bead embroidery.  Little maroon flowers pop up here and there along with stems of greenery.  Also included are round and square vintage nailheads.  It closes with a magnetic slider clasp.

Labyrinth

A bead embroidered pendant using a paua shell spiral (from New Zealand) and labradorite cabochon.  The cab is held in by a netting stitch.  I have incorporated hex beads on the side. The top includes the hex beads done in a cubic RAW.  I love the symmetry of this.

Fo Lung (Fiery Dragon)

This was a bead challenge.  The original teapot form is shown on the top.  The photo below shows the transformed teapot, a Fiery Dragon.  A lampwork bead serves as the dragon's head.  The body is done in colorful sequins.  The dragon's saddle is made up of RAW technique embellished with firepolish beads.  Legs were  incorporated into the form.  Fo Lung wearily guards the gates.
